Air-entrained concrete
noun
a low-density type of concrete throughout which small air bubbles are dispersed in order to increase its frost resistance: used for making roads. With 1 per cent of air, the loss of strength is approximately 5 per cent
Example: The prior sulphate attack significantly accelerated the deterioration of non-air-entrained concrete and air-entrained concrete with low content of air voids.

Architectural concrete

Architectural concrete is concrete that will be permanently exposed to view and therefore requires special care in selection of the concrete materials, forming, placing, and finishing to obtain the desired architectural appearance.
Example: The official mind has decided that manure is damaging to concreted or tarmac surfaces.

Asphaltic concrete

Asphalt Concrete is a composite material commonly used in construction of roads, highways, airports, parking lots, and many other types of pavement. It is commonly called simply asphalt or blacktop.
Example: An asphalt concrete highway runs through the area, used from time to time by various cargo trucks.

A course is a layer of the same unit running horizontally in a wall. It can also be defined as a continuous row of any masonry unit such as bricks, concrete masonry units (CMU), stone, shingles, tiles.

Cellular concrete
noun
a low-density product consisting of portland cement, cement-silica, cement-pozzolan, lime-pozzolan, or lime-silica pastes, or pastes containing blends of these ingredients and having a homogeneous void or cell structure, attained with gas-forming chemicals or foaming agents.
Example: the cellular concret is very good material, because is very resist.

Colored concrete

Colored concrete, also known as decorative concrete, allows traditional grey concrete to be stained and dyed different colors.

Cured concrete

providing adequate moisture, temperature, and time to allow the concrete to achieve the desired properties for its intended use.

Dovetail insert
noun
A dovetail is a joint in woodworking where two sides are fitted together with interlocking pieces. You can also use the word dovetail to show how other things fit well together — like how your picnic plans nicely dovetail with the sunny forecast.
Example: in wood assemblies it is very common to use dovetail for a correct union.

Exposed concrete

Concrete surfaces formed so as to yield an acceptable texture and finish for permanent exposure to view. See also Architectural Concrete.

Gravity load
noun
Gravity loads are body loads available only in Structure. These loads simulate the force of gravity as it affects your model. When you define a gravity load, you specify the gravitational components of the load in each coordinate direction.
Example: gravity loads have to be taken into account in the structural calculation.

Green concrete

a concrete which uses waste material as at least one of its components, or its production process does not lead to environmental destruction, or it has high performance and life cycle sustainability.
Example: The green concret is utilized in ecologics construccions.

Literally, to hang or dangle from something.
Example: I think it's your turn to hang off the side of a building.

Horizontal mortar joints
mortar joints are the spaces between bricks, concrete blocks, or glass blocks, that are filled with mortar or grout. If the surface of the masonry remains unplastered, the joints contribute significantly to the appearance of the masonry.
Example: horizontal mortar joints are very typical elements of the masonry process.

Insulating concrete

Is a system of formwork for reinforced concrete usually made with a rigid thermal insulation that stays in place as a permanent interior and exterior substrate for walls, floors, and roofs.
Example: insulating concrete is used to create places that maintain a warm temperature.

Ladder type systems
noun
Ladder system means two main air lines, generally one each side of the railway tracks, cross connected at regular intervals and able to be fed from any direction.
Example: ladder systems are widely used in construction, a clear example being scaffolding.

Masonry ties
noun
Masonry ties fit in the horizontal mortar joints and are attached to the backup wall or structure. They tie the brick back to the structure and support it laterally.
Example: all brick walls are classified as masonry ties

Metal channel
noun
A metal channel is a roll formed metal strip that has been shaped into a tube or a U, J, or C shape for industrial and manufacturing use.
Example: Metal channels are light gauge and cold formed.

Metal decking

Metal framing usually refers to cold-formed, light gauge studs, channels and other shapes.

The steel grid is a reticular structure made up of load-bearing slabs joined orthogonally by transverse elements.
Example: In the streets you can find metal grids, they are placed in spaces so that rainwater drains and the streets are not flooded.

Metal wall panels are usually fabricated of aluminum but can also be manufactured from steel, stainless steel, copper, or composite

Porous concrete

is a special type of concrete with a high porosity used for concrete flatwork applications that allows water from precipitation and other sources to pass directly through.

Precast concrete
noun
Precast concrete is simply concrete that is cast somewhere other than where it will be used. Most precast products are cast in a factory using a wet-cast method, but others are cast on site—such as tilt-up panels.
Example: The precast concrete contained all the mouldings with the aim of minimizing additional finishing on the building site.

Prestressed concrete
noun
Prestressed concrete is a form of concrete used in construction. It is substantially "prestressed" (compressed) during production, in a manner that strengthens it against tensile forces which will exist when in service.
Example: The use of the material in reinforced and prestressed concrete in bridges is not permitted under the standard specification for road and bridge work.

Steel frame usually refers to a building technique with a "skeleton frame" of vertical steel columns and horizontal I-beams, constructed in a rectangular grid to support the floors, roof and walls of a building which are all attached to the frame.
Example: Steel framing is a general term. It could be structural or non-structural shapes.

The joists are responsible for being a foundation for the upper floors of an enclosure. That is why they are mostly used to support the weight of the concrete and the other elements that go on top of the slab on an upper floor or on the roof of a place.
